Maverick Games Partners with Focus Entertainment for Debut Racing Title ‘Clutch’
French publisher Focus Entertainment has partnered with Maverick Games to publish the studio’s debut racing title, Clutch, which is scheduled for release in spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
New Publishing Agreement
The deal marks a new chapter for Maverick Games after Amazon Game Studios ended its publishing agreement with the studio for the then-unannounced title earlier this year. Maverick Games had previously stated it was in “active dialogue with partners who share our long-term ambition for the IP.”
Focus Entertainment said the partnership will “strengthen its portfolio with its first entry into the open-world racing space, driven by a shared ambition to deliver a standout experience and establish Clutch as a major new racing IP.”
Creative Vision
“At Focus, we look to partner with creators who are redefining their genre,” said Vincent Chataignier, deputy CEO of publishing at Focus Entertainment. “Mike Brown and his team are regarded as one of the defining creative voices in the racing genre, and Clutch embodies exactly the creative ambition Focus Entertainment wants to champion.”
Maverick founder and CEO Mike Brown added: “We founded Maverick Games to build the open-world racing experience we’d dreamed about for years. Focus shares our creative bar and our ambition for Clutch, and we can’t wait for players everywhere to discover this world.”
Background
Maverick Games was established by industry veterans with a focus on creating high-quality racing experiences. The studio’s decision to partner with Focus Entertainment follows Amazon Game Studios’ earlier move to end its publishing agreement, with Amazon stating it wanted to “focus on projects that leverage Amazon’s unique strengths and scale.”
Focus Entertainment, known for publishing titles such as A Plague Tale and SnowRunner, will now add an open-world racing game to its lineup for the first time. The partnership is expected to leverage both companies’ expertise to deliver a competitive entry in the racing genre.
